CHEAT SHEET
๐ถ WiFi โ be careful
- Ask the front desk for the hotel's exact WiFi name โ a look-alike name (one letter different) may be a fake hotspot.
- On hotel/public WiFi avoid banking and entering card details. Use your mobile data for money apps.
- A WiFi login page asking for your email password or card number is a trap โ no real hotel WiFi needs that.
๐ณ Card safety โ the phone scam
- Never give your card number, expiry or CVV to anyone who calls your room โ even if they say "front desk" or "payment problem". Real staff will never ask for these by phone.
- If they call: hang up politely and walk down to the front desk yourself.
- At shops and restaurants, try to see your card being swiped/tapped. Cover your PIN at ATMs and check for loose card readers (skimmers).
- Keep bank helpline numbers saved before you travel, so you can block a card fast.
๐ช Your room โ small habits, big safety
- Use the peephole before opening. Keep the door locked and chained inside.
- Staff with a real reason (cleaning, repair) are confirmed at the desk โ if someone knocks unannounced ("AC check", "police check"), call the front desk first on the number you have, then decide.
- Keep passports, extra cash and spare cards in the room safe; carry copies, not originals, around town.
- Post travel photos after you leave a place โ not while you are still there.
๐ฅ Emergency exits โ 60 seconds tonight
- Find the emergency exit map on your room door. Count the doors between your room and the stairs.
- In a fire: stairs, never the lift. Stay low in smoke. Take your key, touch the door for heat before opening.
- Save in your phone: the hotel front desk number, emergency police 15, rescue 1122 (verify local numbers on arrival).
Enjoy your stay! If anything feels wrong โ a strange call, a suspicious "staff" visit, a card problem โ the front desk is always the right first call. More tips: maahir.io/sheet/guest-room-safety (QR-friendly link for in-room cards).
